Health Services

Registered students may use the services provided by Student Health Services. Services include clinical visits, laboratory tests, over-the-counter medication, health education and more. You can find UC SHIP policy information on the Health Services web page.

Immunizations

All students registered at UC Merced must satisfy TB and immunizations. Below are the UC System requirements:

Required Vaccinations & Screenings Required Dosage & Screening Information
MMR Vaccine: Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) Two (2) doses with first dose on or after 1st birthday; OR positive titer (labiratory evidence of immunity to disease)
Chickenpox Vaccine: Varicella Two (2) doses with first dose on or after 1st birthday; OR positive titer (labiratory evidence of immunity to disease);History of having chickenpox does not meet compliance
Tdap Vaccine: Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (Tdap) One (1) dose after age 7
Vaccine: Meningococcal conjugate (Serogroups A, C, Y & W-135) One (1) dose on or after age 16 for all students who are ages 21 years or younger
TB Screening: Tuberculosis (TB)

All incoming students must complete a Tuberculosis risk questionnaire. Incoming students who are at higher risk* for TB infection, as indicated by answering “yes” to any of the screening questions, should undergo either skin of blood testing for TB infection within 1 year of UC entry.

*Higher risk include travel to or living in South &Central America, Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East; prior positive TB test; or exposure to someone with active TB disease

CAPS provides professional services that care for the emotional, personal and social well-being of students. 

Environmental Health & Safety

The Office of Environmental Health and Safety is dedicated to the prevention of injury and illness to UC Merced students, employees and visitors. They provide services related to environmental compliance, ergonomics, food permits, hazardous materials, etc.
