All F and J visa holders who enter the U.S. on and after September 15, 2026 will be given a fixed date of admission - an "Admit Until Date" on your new I-94. An I-94 with a fixed date of admission on the "Admit Until Date" section of an I-94 means an F-1 visa holder is now subject to the 30 day grace period.

As of September 15, 2026, if you need further time to complete your degree or program, you will be required to file an I-539 application to extend your stay. This applies to all F and J students and scholars on and after September 15, 2026.
