COVID-19 Information for International Students and Scholars

Due to COVID-19 and following guidance from our UC Merced Chancellor and UC Office of the President, the Office of International Affairs the main office on campus will be closed until August 16, 2021. All advising will be done remotely by Zoom or other video/web conferencing methods. ISS staff will return to campus part-time starting Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

We understand there is a vast amount of information online that may be difficult to navigate as you seek answers to your questions. The links below will hopefully answer some of your questions. If you don't see the answer to your question here, or if you have questions about or want to discuss your unique circumstances, please contact an advisor for an appointment. This page is updated as new information is known, so please plan on being proactive and checking this site regularly to stay informed. Be sure to read the latest updates that includes Chancellor Juan Sánchez Muñoz's Executive Directive as well as the UC Vaccination Policy.

Is the UC Merced Campus closed?

On March 16, 2020 UC President Janet Napolitano issued an exectuive order to limit the exposure of members of our community to COVID-19 within our community, to care for those who have fallen ill or otherwise been exposed, and to assure the continued functioning of critical operations. No, the UC Merced campus remains open and operational. As we all practice social distancing to help flatten the curve of COVID-19, instruction has been moved online.
