Out and About - Fall 2023
Join us as we explore various events and activities in the Merced community. We will meet at pre-designated locations at a specified time, prior to attending that particular event. Please note that OIA will not be providing transportation and will not cover the cost of attendance. Bring your friends and families!
September 7, 2023 - Thursday evening at The Mercado: Meet in downtown Merced at the Native Son located in the El Capitan Hotel on the corner of Main Street and M Street at 6:00pm. Then we will walk down Main Street to The Mercado to see the various vendors, artists, performers and exhibits. This is a free event. October 14, 2023 - Open Cockpit Day at Castle Airforce Base: Meet at the entrance to the event at Castle Airforce Base , 5050 Sante Fe Drive in Atwater, CA. Check out almost 80 vintage military aircraft, the all new US Navy F-18 Blue Angel, the F-14 Tomcat, B-52 Bomber, or the Triple Sonic SR-71 spy plane. Great food including burgers, hot dogs and more! October 21, 2023 - Merced County Nut Festival: Celebrate Merced County's almond, walnut and pistachio industry! This is a "go on your own" event located at the Merced County Fairgrounds, 900 Martin Luther King Jr Way, Wear your OIA t-shirt to meet others at the gate at 10:00am. The event goes until 5:00pm. Admission is free.
November 4, 2023 - Merced Community College Football Game: Register for the event by Friday at 4pm and then meet at the front of the Merced College Stadium 76 – Don Odishoo Field at Merced College located at 3600 M Street to watch the Merced Blue Devils take on the Gilroy Gavilan Rams. November 16, 2023 - World Ballet Series Presents Cinderella: The show begins at 7:00pm. Meet out front of the Merced Theater, 301 West Main Street (downtown) at 6:30pm. Cinderella ia an enchanting story for all ages with a wonderful dose of humor, the majesty of classical ballet, and the promise of “happily ever after”. Cinderella is a live performance by a multinational cast of 40 professional ballet dancers, accompanied by Sergei Prokofiev’s passionate celebrated score, and over 150 hand-sewn radiant costumes, richly detailed hand-crafted sets, and sparkling choreography by Marina Kesler.
