** Possible delays in U.S. visa processing **

The U.S. Department of State is currently experiencing technical issues with its Consular Consolidated Database (CCD). As a result, U.S. consulates and embassies worldwide are having difficulties processing visa application requests.

The CCD system stores information that is used for the visa application process and until the system is restored to full functionality, U.S. consular officers are unable to issue and print U.S. visas. The Department of State is currently working to diligently to correct the problem and expects the system to be fully operational again soon. At this time, visa applicants should expect a delay in the visa application process, including visa appointment times and issuance.

Please notify ISS if you are experiencing an extended delay with getting a U.S. visa. While we are aware of the situation, we have not been given specific instructions on how to advise our students and scholars who may be delayed from starting their programs at UC Merced. We will provide updates as they become available from the U.S. Department of State.
